Entrando per la medesima conviene andare per circa venti passi carponi pel solco dell&#8217;acqua, il quale tosto s&#8217;inalza e lascia camminare in piedi, finch\u00e9 si giunge ad una caverna, a guisa di grandioso salone a volta, il cui vano \u00e8 di metri 42 da un lato, e 18 dall&#8217;altro. In fine di questo salone, ripieno di bizzarre e vaghe stalattiti e stalagmiti, una massa d&#8217;acqua, precipitando bianca e spumante dall&#8217;alto, forma una stupenda cascata, ed assorda il visitatore col rumor fragoroso che odesi anche all&#8217;esterno dall&#8217;attonito passeggiero, il quale, abbattendosi a passare di notte tempo per quella via, ignaro della cosa, sentesi compreso da ribrezzo e spavento.<\/p>\n<p>Chi avesse desiderio di conoscere minutamente tutte le particolarit\u00e0 di codesto antro ululante, prenda il Vallisnieri e rester\u00e0 soddisfatto. Aveva sentito dire che in fondo alla buca abitavano le fate. Rimase a lungo a sentire quei canti e nei giorni seguenti vi ritorn\u00f2.Una mattina d\u2019estate, mentre si recava a lavorare, volle passare davanti alla grotta per poter dare un\u2019occhiata e vide una bellissima ragazza avvolta in un vestito leggero come le nuvole, Il minatore fu colpito dalla sua bellezza e tent\u00f2 di avvicinarla, ma questa spar\u00ec come una spirale di fumo. Per giorni l\u2019uomo torn\u00f2 alla grotta senza alcun risultato.L\u2019estate pass\u00f2 e, con l\u2019arrivo dell\u2019inverno, il giovane minatore rimaneva per lunghe ore a pensare \u00a0all\u2019incontro che aveva avuto quella mattina.<\/p>\n<p>Divenne triste e si ammal\u00f2,nessuna medicina sembravano avere effetto sul giovane. Una notte, mentre gi\u00f9 dalla Pania scendeva un vento gelido, il minatore ud\u00ec bussare alla porta. Apr\u00ec e trov\u00f2 in terra un cesto colmo di fiori che nascono soltanto durante l\u2019estate. Allora cap\u00ec chi poteva avere portato fino alla casa quel cesto, usc\u00ec e corse verso la grotta. Riusc\u00ec a vedere la fata fuori dalla spelonca, le confess\u00f2 il suo amore disperato. Ma la Fata gli disse che non era possibile e che se avesse mangiato quei fiori sarebbe guarito e l\u2019avrebbe dimenticata per sempre. Ma il giovane insisteva; allora la Fata lo avvert\u00ec che se l\u2019avesse seguita in fondo alla grotta non sarebbe pi\u00f9 potuto tornare alla luce del giorno e, detto questo,si allontan\u00f2. Il minatore non si arrese e le corse dietro e le pareti della montagna si chiusero.
